You among few, pour yourself out for other people
A cup here, a cup there, and for no "thank you"
Then there are those who know, “I am not thirsty
But I want what you got, come here and fill me”
Slighting their own cups, they are not worthy

You among few, pour your light out on other people
A ray here, a beam there, while your sun is dying
Then there are those who shout, “No one can see me”
They stand in the sunlight, “It’s too dark to be me”
Slighting their own stars, they are not worthy

And they cry, “Woe is me”
But your life is yours, you see
And they cry, “Someone feed me”
But you yourself must eat

You among few, hand out your bread to other people
A slice here, a slice there, even to bakers
Then there are those who know, “I am not hungry
But I want sustenance, come here and feed me”
Slighting their own pantries, they are not worthy

And they cry, “Woe is me”
But your life is yours, you see
And they cry, “Life is tiring”
But you yourself must sleep

You among few, live your life to give your life to others
A day here, a day there, and then comes the night
Then there are those who will sleep so damn soundly
Thinking to themselves, “I am so worthy”
Tossing and turning, you say, “I am not sleepy”

But you yourself must sleep
And you deserve some sleep
