What To Do at 22

What to do at 22 but think of what’s been done
What to do at 22 but think of what’s to come
To have the world spinning within your fidgeting hands
As you flip over the hourglass just to marvel at the sands
What to do when you’re 22 but be ever on the prowl
As you pull a cougar by her tail just to hear her howl

But oh, how could you stay?
Don’t you ever, ever, ever think you can stay
In here, you cannot stay in here

What to do at 22 but regret what’s been done
What to do at 22 but hope for better things to come
What do you do when you’re 22 but blame your problems on a girl
As you travel around the 50 states and know that you’ve seen the world
What to do at 22 but start to stick in your ways
As you subconsciously begin to start counting your numbered days

But oh, how could you stay?
Don’t you ever, ever, ever think you can stay
In here, you cannot stay in here

So what can you do when you’re 22 but regret what’s been done
And what to do at 22 but hope for better things to come
What can you do at 22 but act so smart and look so dumb
As you live life as it should be lived when you are living young
And what to do at 22 but question your place
As you slowly prepare for the wrinkles in your soft face

But oh, how could you say?
Don’t you ever, ever, ever think you can say
“I’ll stay here,” there’s no quarter in here

So you know when I get older, you know what I’m going to do
I’m going to sit around and reminisce about being 22
What do you do at 22 but think of what’s been done
And what to do at 22 but think of what’s to come
