Fall Away

Fall away…

I’m ready for the fall to blow my leaves away
I hear, “But those words are too old for you to say,”
But I have seen so many long summer days,
Brimming with too much heat and too much angst

Shake my tree
Take my leaves
Fall away

The dusk creeps up on the day
And hides my leaves away
Twilight, you can’t see my leaves
Or my life leaving me
As the dusk creeps up on the day
The wind steals me away

Shake my tree
Take my leaves
Fall away

I’m ready for the fall to blow my leaves away
I hear, “But what if summer had something else to say?”
Even if we wanted them to hang around and stay
Autumn’s wind blows and my leaves fall away

All away
Fall away
