Where Was Your God Now (Thoughts and Prayers Onus)

Where is your god now
When will he come down
What’s he waiting for
What on earth could be worse

Where is he
Where is she

In a hospital somewhere in Gaza
In a music festival in Israel
In another school shooting in US
Looking at you, hiding under a desk

Saying what a mess
What a mess

In World War One or Two
No Man’s Land or Peleliu
The bowels of an old ship
Overcrowded on a biblical slave trip

Say oh but I
Need it good to find

How much more do you need
To see through your belief
Another couple millennia
Another instance, another batch of deaths

Of what comes next
Oh what could come next

All through time pick a side
Invading and crusading
Come down and tell us who’s right
You see we miswrote the texts and we need to know, we need to know tonight

What to do
Where are you

In the back of a church
Looking the other way
While father has his way
With the word, and the word, the word is us

We’re in a man-made box
Let’s disinvent the locks
It’s on us
It’s on us
