Music at the Mansion

  • The Mansion on James 930 James Street Syracuse, NY, 13203 United States (map)

Singer-songwriters Stephen Mullane and Ryan Holweger host an acoustic evening at the historic Mansion on James St. in Syracuse, NY on Friday, May 31, 2024. Doors open at 6:00 pm, music starts at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15, available here.

Each musician will play a 1-hour set for an audience in the living room (parlor?) of a beautiful old mansion that's dripping with history. The doors open at 6:00pm, so you'll have plenty of time to grab drinks at the cash bar and mingle before settling into your seats for the songs at 7:00.

Proceeds directly support the George & Rebecca Barnes Foundation, whose sole mission is to restore and maintain this little piece of history so future generations can enjoy it, too. Act fast and get your tickets now before they become...history.

About the artists:

Stephen Mullane is a singer-songwriter from Syracuse, NY. He listens to everything, so a little bit of everything finds its way into his music. He has self-released a single ("Without a Me" in November 2022) and three “demo” albums: Missing: What it Was Like, released in February 2021; Want You To Hear It Like Me But I Ran Out Of, released in October 2021; and Stoffice Modes: (This is How) It Begins, released in February 2023.

"[Stephen's] lyrics are the highlight...Called to mind are Elliot Smith's slowly unfolding "King's Crossing," Pavement trading incomprehensible verse in "...And Carrot Rope," or Bob Dylan's self-critical look at current affairs in "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)." -Sydney Pollack, NYSMusic.com

Americana singer-songwriter Ryan Holweger relocated to Syracuse in the fall 2019 after nearly twenty years in Minneapolis. After more than a decade of fronting alt-country bands in the Twin Cities, Ryan released his first solo record, Gunmetal Sky, in 2018, and over the past several years has played shows in thirteen states and ten countries spread across three continents. Ryan’s latest EP, Emerado, recently received a 2024 SAMMY nomination for Best Americana Recording.

“I couldn’t overcome feeling I’d been dropped into the novel world of Cormac McCarthy’s gritty western fiction meets pure Southern Gothic. Lyrics are imbued with a straightforward clarity and darkness. Melodies echo universal hard-scrabble characters and striking vistas….You can nearly feel the fading heart, the grieving, the loss, the warm fluids running across cold fingers.” – Refueled Magazine
